WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 24, 2025) – Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) today issued the following statement:
Senator Chris Murphy’s immoral proposal to price constitutionally protected devices out of the reach of typical, law-abiding Americans by raising per-item taxes from $0 to $4,709 is a stunning example of everything that is wrong with Washington, D.C. and a reminder of why Congress must eliminate the National Firearms Act (NFA) altogether.
Republicans and pro-freedom Democrats in Congress must reject Senator Murphy’s tax hike and instead enact meaningful protections for the right to keep and bear arms. FPC again calls on Congress to fix and pass H.R. 38 and repeal the NFA. Additionally, FPC calls on Senate leadership to fire the Senate Parliamentarian and get the job done.
It is time for Congress to do the right thing and eliminate immoral laws that have unconstitutionally trampled on the rights of the American people.
