Former colleagues part ways as radical left-wing network spins off from slightly less radical affiliate

NBC / MSNBC

NBC News, that failing left-wing media company, celebrated a key milestone Monday in its ongoing divorce from MSNBC, the failing radical left-wing media company soon to be rebranded as MS NOW. As of Oct. 6, NBC News will have officially cut ties with the employees who accepted humiliating transfers to the MSNBC spinoff. All professional collaboration between the two entities will cease on Oct. 20, which means MSNBC will have to operate its own newsgathering operation for the first time since its inception in 1996.

In a series of moves announced earlier this year, NBC News took the opportunity to part ways with some of its most obnoxious “journalists” by fobbing them off on MSNBC, a rabidly partisan network that exists solely to provide emotional solace to mentally disturbed senior citizens who love Elizabeth Warren, aka “Pocahontas.” That’s not to say NBC won’t be keeping its fair share of radical libs. Here’s a look at the notable personalities who are making the jump, and those who are staying put.

Leaving NBC for MSNBC (MS NOW)

Jacob Soboroff

The son of a politically connected Los Angeles real estate tycoon, Soboroff attended the prestigious Harvard-Westlake School, which costs more than $50,000 per year. He is one of several MSNBC employees who bears a striking resemblance to the network’s star anchor, Rachel Maddow. Soboroff made a name for himself at NBC News by co-authoring a dubious report about a doctor performing rogue hysterectomies at an immigration detention facility in 2020. The doctor filed a $30-million defamation lawsuit which NBC settled after a federal judge ruled its reporting was “verifiably false.” He was widely mocked for his exuberant coverage of the 2024 Democratic convention.

Brandy Zadrozny

The so-called misinformation expert moved to MSNBC earlier this year, and it’s easy to see why NBC wanted to get rid of her. Zadrozny helped fan the flames of left-wing misinformation that erupted in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination. She argued the alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, may have written left-wing slogans on his bullet casings in an effort to “set up another ideological enemy for the shooting.” Days later, as the country was struggling to comprehend the unhinged reactions from left-wing online freaks who celebrated Kirk’s assassination, Zadrozny promoted misinformation by insisting it was false to “suggest that the internet is cheering for this.”

Ken Dilanian

Best known for cursing on the air, Dilanian is an undistinguished journalist who covers a variety of topics. He was criticized for praising China as a “global leader” for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic that started in China, and was forced to retract an article that promoted anti-Semitic tropes. Last month, Dilanian was busted for falsely reporting on the charging documents filed against suspected Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson.

Ryan Reilly

The NBC News justice reporter got “promoted” to senior justice reporter at MSNBC. According to his official bio, Reilly remains “focused on the fallout of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol” nearly five years after it happened. He rose to prominence in 2014 while covering the anti-police riots in Ferguson, Mo., where he posted a photo of some earplugs on the ground and asked if there were any experts who could confirm they were “rubber bullets.”

Ali Vitali

The intrepid reporter left NBC News earlier this year to join MSNBC as host of the coveted 5 a.m. time slot. Vitali is best known for covering Elizabeth Warren’s failed primary campaign in 2020, which inspired her to write a book about why America is too sexist to elect a woman president. The book included a memorable quote from Warren, who was venting after a disappointing third-place finish in the Iowa caucus. “Everyone comes up to me and says, ‘I would vote for you, if you had a penis,'” said the U.S. senator who lied about being Native American.

Staying at NBC, the “serious” new network

Steve Kornacki

NBC News is retaining their election guru, who might be the only likable (and sort of charming) character in the NBC/MSNBC universe. He achieved bona fide sex symbol status in 2020, when millions of liberal wine moms felt a strangely erotic enthusiasm while watching him announce Donald Trump had “lost” the election. He is best known for wearing khaki pants.

Yamiche Alcindor

A reliable proponent of Democratic politicians and their policies, Alcindor is staying put at NBC News. She joined the network in 2022 after stints at PBS News and the New York Times. Alcindor has been widely praised by fellow journalists for being criticized by Trump. She got a book deal in June 2020, several days after the death of George Floyd. Her memoir, Don’t Forget, has yet to be published.

Lester Holt

But for how long? Holt earns an estimated $10 million to host NBC Nightly News, a show whose ratings have declined precipitously since he replaced serial fabulist Brian Williams in 2015. He is best known for accidentally humiliating Kamala Harris by asking a simple question about why she hadn’t yet visited the border as vice president in June 2021.

Savannah Guthrie

The wife of a Democratic operative who advised former vice president Al Gore, Guthrie earns an estimated $18 million to co-host the Today show, which is also losing viewers at a rapid clip. Her exorbitant salary is still less than the $25 million per year (reduced from $30 million) MSNBC pays Rachel Maddow to host a show once a week. Guthrie made a cameo appearance in Zero Day, the awful Netflix political thriller series starring Robert De Niro. The limited series was created by Noah Oppenheim, the former NBC News president who allegedly discouraged the network from reporting on Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein’s sex crimes. Guthrie “wrote” a children’s book with Oppenheim’s wife called Princesses Wear Pants. Oppenheim’s co-creator, Michael Schmidt, is a former New York Times reporter and (second) husband of MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace, who also appeared in the show.
