The 20 living Israeli hostages who spent two years in Hamas captivity reunited with their families on Monday morning as the terror group released them under the Trump administration’s peace deal.
Hamas abducted the hostages, most of them civilians, during its Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel. “Today, twenty families are spared the unbearable pain of not knowing if they will ever see their loved ones again,” White House envoy Steve Witkoff wrote in a statement, vowing to recover the bodies of 28 deceased hostages, including 2 Americans.
Pictures and videos of the reunions show tearful embraces and cheers.
Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Evyatar David were abducted from the Nova music festival. The two were “starved and kept in chains with bags over their heads,” the Times of Israel reported earlier this year.
