The human eye is a remarkable organ, but it does have its limitations. When you need to see just a bit farther or a bit clearer, you need a little bit of help. Go View’s ZOOMR Mono 8×25 monocular can deliver that help, and a lot more. This compact monocular brings the world eight times closer to you, and it does it with an incredibly small footprint. With their brown-colored model in-hand, I ventured into the woods and the bustling downtown to test this sight-enhancer’s remarkable capabilities.
The ZOOMR Mono 8×25 monocular
Right out of the gate, the monocular’s packaging impressed me. The box led me to a removable sleeve that, when opened (by magnetic closure, no less), revealed a neatly packed assortment of boxes, with the instruction booklet stored neatly on top. There was a box for the strap, a box for the smartphone adapter, and finally, the box with the monocular.
The monocular comes stored inside its carrying pouch with protective packing material throughout. Once unwrapped, the monocular exhibited a solid outer casing that featured a “grippy” surface, which should ensure a solid hold on the unit.

Loaded with Impressive Specs
They say good things come in small packages, and judging by the ZOOMR’s specs and my own investigation of its features, this is entirely true.
Starting with its construction, the monocular features an ultra-compact magnesium outer shell with a multi-coated lens and nitrogen-filled interior. On the tech side, the ZOOMR monocular offers eight times magnification power, a fully coated eyepiece, and a 6.8-degree field of view. It also boasts a viewing distance of up to four hundred feet.
Lastly, the monocular included in its kit, a cushioned carrying pouch, a security lanyard for easy carrying, and a cellphone adapter. This last addition was a nice surprise. It states that it “seamlessly connects the analog magnification of your monocular to the digital world of your smartphone. This allows you to effortlessly capture and share stunning images and videos.”

I will challenge its effectiveness with my field tests, but a very unique feature, nonetheless.

Results of Outdoor Use
Although the marketing of the ZOOMR Mono 8×25 monocular is geared towards deep outdoor and looking-into-nature use. It also makes a great helper when it comes to viewing sporting events, stage shows, or outdoor presentations. I was able to test this very fact when I was at a New Year’s celebration.
The monocular truly did bring the stage presenters and music acts up close and personal, even though I was a few hundred feet away from the stage. The images were crisp and vibrant, while the included lanyard allowed me to push through the crowd without fear of dropping the unit.
When in nature, the monocular performed equally well with the lush greens and deep browns of the woods magnified clearly as if they were directly in front of me. The unit’s stout body eliminates any shakiness as I viewed the image.

Using the Accessories
Four accessories are packed in the box. The instruction manual was pocket-sized, so it could be carried with you easily. Inside, it stated both the use and care of the unit, and all information was presented clearly.

The lanyard was much more advanced than just a typical loop of fabric with a clip. This version sported a fully adjustable reinforced strap with a detachable buckle for quick use of the monocular. The one-inch-wide strap is carriable around the neck, over the shoulder, or in a cross-body position. The included carrying pouch with belt loop was also very convenient. They could have skimped on these accessories in both quality and function, but they didn’t, and it shows.
Finally, I easily attached the cellphone apparatus to the monocular. With just a few twists of a couple of screw knobs, I added my cellphone into the clamp. Instantly, I was viewing and recording images directly to my phone.

Simple in function and flawless in execution is how I would describe the ZOOMR Mono 8×25 monocular. The monocular performed well without any issues or problems. It did exactly what it is intended to do: bring images from far away up close for easy viewing.
The unit retails for $149.99, and it’s my determination that it’s well worth the cost. If sold alone, I may have objected, but the included accessories and well-presented packaging justify its cost.
