Prosecutor Blames Gun Owners After ISIS Terror Attack

When an ISIS-inspired terrorist entered an ROTC classroom at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and killed the instructor, a decorated war hero, most people placed the blame squarely where it belonged—on the individual committing the atrocity.

Sure, there is more to blame, like a religious zeal that inspires members to kill anyone who doesn’t agree with them and a so-called “gun-free” zone that left the instructor and students as sitting ducks. Still, it was the individual who made the choice to commit murder and was subsequently killed by students in the class.

Of course, liberals don’t think like that. To them, there’s something more sinister than just a brainwashed terrorist killing those he has been taught to hate. Namely, to some, it’s always the gun’s fault.

That was exactly the case when the former National Guardsman who received an 11-year sentence for attempting to aid and abet ISIS a decade ago killed an ROTC instructor and injured two students. Norfolk’s Soros-funded prosecutor Ramin Fatehi blamed not the attacker, but the “cult of gun absolutism.”

“This is a national sickness,” Fatehi said, not of the frequent attacks by Muslim extremists, but concerning the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. “We live in a country where people care more about guns than they care about six-year-old children. They care more about guns than they care about synagogue worshippers. And they care more about guns than they care about college students.”

Of course, he made no reference to the fact that it was a terror attack. Nor did he mention that the perpetrator should have been removed from the country after getting out of prison, where he still should have been.

Instead, he doubled down on stupid, claiming gun owners and run-rights activists are to blame.

“What that means is that it does not matter how hard President Hemphill [president of ODU] works, how hard chiefs work, somebody will be a victim eventually,” Fatehi continued. “It is a matter of time. And until there’s the political will to break the spell of the cult of gun absolutism, you will see more incidents like this.

“So, if you’re looking for someone to blame, don’t look at anybody up here. Look at our lawmakers who don’t have the courage to implement sensible gun control measures. Look to a Supreme Court that enables them. And do something about it.”

As one might expect, Fatehi’s comments were met with a lot of criticism by those who tend to believe that violent crimes are committed by violent criminals, not inanimate objects like guns. But that didn’t make a bit of difference to the prosecutor, despite clear evidence that the murder was an ISIS-inspired attack.

“I absolutely stand by what I said,” Fatehi told Fox News. “It is the truth, no matter how much the gun lobby wants to deny it. No matter the ideology of an attacker, that attacker is more dangerous with a gun than without one.”

Ultimately, as long as there are liberal prosecutors willing to turn violent criminals out on the street and politicians who think nothing of designating some areas as gun-free zones for lawful citizens only, we’ll continue hearing about lone wolf terrorist attacks killing more innocent Americans.
