It sure beats sponsoring a stupid bill to add a third ‘unspecified’ gender option on US passports

Ro Khanna finally did something worth mentioning. The anti-capitalist congressman from Silicon Valley has dethroned Nancy Pelosi as the most prolific stock trader on Capitol Hill.

Since 2025, Khanna’s family has made roughly 7,200 trades involving stocks and other securities valued at up to $147 million, the New York Times reports. Pelosi, meanwhile, has reported just 17 transactions over that period, involving shares with a maximum value of $84 million.

In other words, an absolute drubbing on Khanna’s part. He came for the queen. He didn’t miss.

Surpassing Pelosi, one of the most successful investors of the modern age thanks to her consistent record of impeccably well-timed trades, is no small feat. It is without question Khanna’s most meaningful achievement since taking office in 2017. His past accomplishments include the following: sponsoring legislation to add a third “unspecified” gender category on U.S. passports, inviting Greta Thunberg to testify in Congress, and feuding with liberal billionaire Mark Cuban, who called Khanna’s wealth tax proposal “insane.”

Khanna is one of the wealthiest members of Congress thanks to his wife, Ritu Ahuja Khanna, the daughter of Cleveland-based auto parts magnate Monte Ahuja. His wife and two children are the beneficiaries of numerous trusts and other tax-advantaged vehicles set up by her father, which Khanna claims are managed “independently” by outside advisers. The Khanna household’s prolific trading is conducted primarily through these entities, which the congressman has criticized for helping rich people shield their fortunes from taxation. He supports a ban on members of Congress trading stocks, provided it does not apply to family trusts.

Because members of Congress are not required to disclose the precise value of their financial holdings, it is difficult to estimate the Khanna family’s net worth. Their disclosed assets are valued at between $103 million to more than $340 million, but their actual value could be significantly higher. For example, Khanna listed multiple assets held by his wife and young children—who personally own stakes in 3 golf clubs and a $65 billion investment firm—as being worth more than $1 million without specifying an upper limit.

It’s very likely that Khanna has already surpassed Pelosi in terms of net worth, but on paper at least, she maintains a slight edge based on the murky math of congressional financial disclosures. The former House speaker’s most recent disclosure form listed assets worth as much as $374 million.

Unlike Pelosi, Khanna goes out of his way to limit the public’s insight into his finances. Whereas most members of Congress submit their financial disclosures electronically, Khanna files his on paper, which makes it nearly impossible to scrutinize using data-analytics tools. His 2024 disclosure form was more than 330 pages.

Khanna insists that he has never traded stocks personally. Whoever is managing the family fortune is a lot better at picking investments than Khanna is at picking candidates to endorse in Democratic primaries. For example, he was one of the only national lawmakers to publicly back failed Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong, the left-wing lunatic who wanted to cancel Thanksgiving.

He was also one of Graham Platner’s most enthusiastic allies. Khanna flew to Maine after the New York Times reported on allegations of toxic behavior from Platner’s former girlfriends and argued that electing the disgraced scumbag would bring much-needed “redemption” to a “broken” America. Khanna continued to stand by Platner right up to the moment that a Democrat accused the then-Senate candidate of rape.

Throughout his career, Khanna has consistently engaged in what some might call “shameless pandering” to align himself with fashionable left-wing causes. When Democrats still cared about so-called climate change, he was backing the “Green New Deal” and calling for a nationwide high-speed rail initiative. He sponsored the gender-neutral passport bill in 2020 at the height of the “Latinx” craze. In July, he staged a publicity stunt in the Palestinian territories to burnish his anti-Israel bona fides and referred to himself as a “long-shot presidential candidate,” which everyone knows you’re not supposed to say out loud.

Anyway, congrats on the pile of cash, Ro Diggity, and good luck with the anti-capitalism.
