Exclusive: President Donald Trump will make a surprise stop in Denton, Texas, on Thursday to highlight manufacturing and the administration’s economic agenda, FOX Business has learned.
The president will visit a Peterbilt Motors factory in the city north of Dallas. Trump will deliver remarks about the manufacturing boom he believes is a result of his pro-growth policies, tariffs and deregulation.
“The president’s America First trade agenda is driving a manufacturing renaissance that will continue paying dividends for the great state of Texas and Americans across the country,” White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales said. She added that the Trump administration’s agenda “has created more than 1 million private-sector jobs, sparked trillions in new investments, lowered taxes and reshored key manufacturing back to the United States.”

A White House official told FOX Business that Peterbilt parent company Paccar has been adding jobs and increasing American truck production as a result of the heavy truck tariffs put in place Nov. 1, 2025. A 25% tariff remains on medium- and heavy-duty trucks as well as all non-compliant USMCA parts.

“We have pushed for action like this for decades, and we congratulate President Trump for delivering for heavy truck workers everywhere,” Fain said. “Let’s keep going and rewrite our broken trade rules.”
The White House official credits the tariffs with Paccar adding more than 1,000 new jobs at the Denton facility, and adding more than 2,000 jobs across the U.S. The company’s subsidiaries, Peterbilt and Kenworth, move about 30% of the truck freight in the country. The company remains the only remaining American-owned high-volume heavy truck manufacturer and has been building trucks for 121 years.
Trump will highlight the rich history of manufacturing while working to persuade the American people that the economy is working.
In the Oval Office on Monday, Trump said, “They’re all coming back. Hundreds of billions of dollars of plants are being built. Eli Lilly is spending billions. Merck, Pfizer, they’re all coming back. And we learned that during COVID, we didn’t make anything. Now we’re making it all. They’re all coming back at record numbers.”

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that since coming into office in January 2025, the economy has created 807,000 overall jobs. Within that number, the manufacturing industry has lost 35,000 jobs during the same period. The president believes that number to be deceiving because of the amount of investments that have been announced since he took office.
The White House website said $11.2 trillion has been pledged by countries and companies. Trump argues that it will eventually turn into factories and other projects. In fact, the same data from the BLS shows that since Trump took office, the construction sector has created 95,000 new jobs.
“Steel production declined significantly, and nearly 200,000 manufacturing jobs were lost in the year before I took office,” Trump said.
BLS data shows that the economy under former President Joe Biden lost 202,000 manufacturing jobs in the 12 months before Trump took office. That trend reversed with three straight months of job gains in manufacturing.
White House sources told FOX Business that Trump plans to keep a very busy domestic travel schedule leading up to the midterm elections. Denton on Thursday will be one more stop to sell the Trump economy directly to Americans.
