Ford is recalling more than 40,000 vehicles due to a headlight defect that could reduce the driver’s visibility, according to federal regulators.
About 41,748 vehicles are potentially affected by the recall, including the 2025-2027 Ford Expedition, 2026 Ford F-250 SD, 2026 Ford F-350 SD, 2026 Ford F-450 SD and 2026 Ford F-550 SD models, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in its recall notice.
The NHTSA said the exterior lighting issue could reduce the driver’s visibility or make the vehicle harder for others to see on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

“The headlight assemblies may contain a contaminated LED chip, which can result in a loss of daytime running lights, parking lights, high beams or low beams,” the NHTSA said in its notice.
“A loss of exterior lighting can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash,” the notice states.
The safety report advised drivers on how they could identify the issue.
“A dashboard indicator light will illuminate for customers experiencing inoperative low beam and/or high beam headlamps,” the report reads.

Dealers will inspect and replace the headlight assemblies, if needed, at no cost.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct. 26.
