Brian Griffin (Princeton ’99) worked ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ with Chris Cuomo, aka ‘Fredo,’ until his arrest for abusing young girls
Former CNN producer John Griffin turns 47 today. It is not yet known whether his former boss, disgraced former anchor Chris Cuomo, sometimes referred to as “Fredo,” sent Griffin a care package via the commissary at his current residence in federal prison, where he is serving a 19-year sentence for child sex abuse.
CNN claims to have fired Griffin, who graduated from Princeton in 1999 after preparing at the prestigious Hackley School in upstate New York, shortly after his arrest in December 2021. On his LinkedIn page, however, the convicted pedophile still identifies himself as a currently employed “senior producer” at the failing network.
Griffin boasts of working “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Cuomo, who lost his CNN hosting gig after conspiring to help his brother, disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo (D., N.Y.), smear the women who accused him of sexual harassment. CNN fired Chris in December 2021, a few days before Griffin’s arrest. Several weeks later, CNN president Jeff Zucker was forced to resign after having a secret sexual relationship with a subordinate. Six months after Zucker’s departure, CNN cut ties with Jeffrey Toobin, the senior legal analyst who masturbated on a Zoom call.
Cuomo, who graduated from Yale in 1992, has been obsessively covering the Jeffrey Epstein case in his new role at News Nation, whatever that is, and has accused Donald Trump and his supporters of pushing “conspiracy theories” about the jet-setting pedophile who allegedly killed himself in 2019.
Federal prosecutors charged Griffin with multiple counts of enticing minors to engage in perverted acts. The sick freak used messaging apps to befriend the mothers of young girls, and would volunteer to “train” their daughters in the art of “sexual subservience.” Griffin managed to lure at least one of those mothers and her nine-year-old daughter to his ski house in Vermont, where the abuse took place.
Griffin reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors in 2022. He pleaded guilty to coercing a minor to engage in sexual activity and was sentenced to more than 19 years in federal prison beginning in June 2023. He was also ordered to pay restitution to his victims and will serve an additional 15 years under supervised release when his prison term expires in 2043.
Cuomo and Griffin were a natural fit at CNN, where they worked together for almost nine years. Both were nepo babies with limited faculties who relied on their fathers’ wealth and connections for professional advancement. Cuomo is the son of former New York governor Mario Cuomo. Griffin’s father, a hotshot talent agent at William Morris, represented Chris Cuomo (and his dad) along with other media bigwigs such as Regis Philbin, Geraldo Rivera, and Lesley Stahl.
“Everything about [Griffin] is strange, which is why he was a perfect fit for Chris,” a knowledgeable source tells us.
Happy Birthday!
