The Israel Defense Forces on Monday conducted airstrikes against Yemen’s Hodeidah port, a stronghold of Houthi rebels, a day after the Iran-backed terrorists launched a missile attack that struck near Israel’s main airport.

The IDF said it carried out its strikes “in response to repeated attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel in which surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aircraft were launched at the territory of the state and its citizens,” according to Reuters.

Israel launched the strikes in coordination with the United States, though no American troops were involved, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid reported.

The Houthis used the Hodeidah port, the IDF said, “for the transfer of Iranian weapons, equipment for military needs, and other terror purposes,” according to the Times of Israel. Israeli forces also targeted a concrete factory in the nearby city of Bajil, which the military said “serves as an important economic resource for the Houthi terror regime and is used for building tunnels and military infrastructure.”

Israel’s strikes came after the Houthi terrorists’ Sunday missile attack at the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, which injured six people and caused major airlines to suspend flights to Israel. The Houthis said they launched the Sunday attack in solidarity with Hamas in its war against Israel.

The Trump administration in recent weeks has ramped up military action against the Houthis for repeatedly attacking American and Israeli vessels in the Red Sea, a crucial maritime trade route, since the Israel-Hamas war broke out in October 2023.

“The U.S. military continues its operation against the Houthis, which has included over 1,000 strikes against these terrorists and we will continue to coordinate with the Israeli government through diplomatic channels,” National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt told Reuters shortly after the Houthis’ Sunday attack.
