A new report is claiming that Ukrainian ruler, Volodymyr Zelensky, could have “softened” his stance on the territory he’s claiming. So far, Zelensky has rejected all concessions to cede land to Russia in order to end the ongoing war between the two over contested areas.
Zelensky may agree to concede land to Russia and the freezing of the current front lines as part of a potential conflict settlement, according to a report by the Telegraph. A deal, which is currently reportedly under consideration, could see Ukraine cease attempts to take control of Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), and Crimea, and retain control of the parts of Russia’s Zaporozhye and Kherson regions it already occupies.
Zelensky Declines Peace Terms Set By U.S.
According to a report by RT, Zelensky declined the peace deal in his regular video address on Saturday. The Ukrainian ruler stressed that Ukraine’s borders are defined by its constitution and that “nobody can or will” make concessions on the issue. “The Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupiers,” he proclaimed. –SHTFPlan
Russian officials have also repeatedly accused Zelensky of denying reality and prolonging a conflict he cannot win. Moscow says it intends to achieve its core national security objectives, preferably through diplomacy. Ukraine is fully dependent on the supply of Western weapons and funding to get it through the war.
This change of heart comes before the Trump and Putin peace talks, which are highly anticipated. Zelensky is not invited to join the discussion; however, he seems to be altering his previously stubborn war course.
Ukraine Not Invited to Crucial Trump & Putin Peace Talks
An unnamed Western official told the British daily that “the plan can only be related to the current positions held by the militaries,” adding that the weekend saw some frantic diplomacy between Kiev and its Western backers. The report also claims that the EU had decided to support Ukraine’s vision for peace in an effort to boost its diplomatic position in dealing with both Trump and Russia.
