While attending Industry Day at the Range at SHOT Show 2026, we heard whispers that a new night-vision/thermal company was in attendance. So, we hunted them down and got acquainted with STRX Tactical, who brought their new FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On.

STRX Tactical FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On

We didn’t get a specific MSRP or price for the STRX Tactical FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On, but it is supposed to be something north of $10,000. While no one is going to make an argument that this is cheap, for the feature set that it offers, this is a really good value in application.

All of the technical specs for the FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On are listed below as presented by STRX Tactical:

  • Low-Light Sensor: SIONYX XQE-1351
  • Thermal: 640×480 12šm <24mK
  • Display: 1280×960 OLED RGB
  • Thermal Modes: White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Edge
  • Runtime – 18650B Battery (3500mAh): 3.5 Hours
  • Runtime – External (USB-Type C): Unlimited
  • Dimensions: 140mm x 85mm x 78 mm
  • Weight (w/ Battery): 24 Oz
  • Operating Temperature: -20 to +60 C
  • Optic Height: 1.54″
  • Fused thermal + digital color night vision
  • Zero-preserving, clip-on design
  • Compatible with LPVOs and more
  • Low-light and zero-visibility capable
  • NIR laser designator visibility
  • Improved situational understanding
  • Reduced operator workload

A Word from STRX Tactical on the FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On

STRX introduces the FCX-400, a fused cross-spectrum thermal and digital color night vision clip-on weapon sight designed to extend the operational capability of daytime optics. Engineered for LPVO clip-on compatibility, the system preserves zero and enables operation beyond daylight into low-light and zero-visibility conditions.

Cross-spectrum fusion of thermal imaging and digital color low-light sensing reduces situational uncertainty. Thermal sensing supports rapid target detection, while the integrated SIONYX XQE-1351 low-light sensor provides color contextual detail required for positive identification and situational understanding.

The system provides visibility of near-infrared (NIR) laser designators, supporting marking and coordination during operations. Fused output maintains consistent situational awareness across variable lighting environments and minimizes operator workload.

Designed for reliable identification and awareness in degraded visual environments.

Final Thoughts

If there was ever a force multiplier at SHOT Show, this would be it. This can be easily coupled with whatever LPVO (Low-Powered Variable Optic) you might be running on a sporting carbine, and it gives you the enhancement of both night-vision as well as thermal capabilities. This will definitely be a company to keep our eyes on in the future.

As always, let us know all of your thoughts about the STRX Tactical and their new FCX-400 Digital Color Night Vision/Thermal Clip-On in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback and engagement.
