Trading cards have been having a moment ever since COVID — hey, there are worse things to get into when you’re locked inside for months — and one of the most sought-after in years has been found.
A 1-of-1 Cooper Flagg rookie card from Topps with the 2025 first pick’s NBA Debut patch from his first game has been the holy grail of sports cards as of late, so much so that the Dallas Mavericks put out a “bounty” for it.
Well, according to ESPN, the card has been discovered by RhodyBreakers, some folks that rip open packs of cards on live streams (and if that concept sounds weird to you, it’s time to think about scheduling a colonoscopy).
Alright, don’t go sticking that one in the spokes of your Huffy so it sounds like a motorcycle.

There was fervor around a similar card for Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes, and, as with that one, whoever found it has to decide what to do with the card. The obvious thing is to put it up for auction, because, while the current record for a Cooper Flagg card is $366,000, this one is expected to go for a lot more.
The jersey Flagg wore in his debut — which the patch in the card originally came from — sold for a million dollars at auction, and that’s how much some think the card could go for.
But there’s also the option of taking the Mavericks “bounty.” That comes with two premium season tickets for 32 years, a game-worn jersey (signed), photos with Flagg and the Rookie of the Year trophy, and an all-expenses-paid trip with the team.

Tempting… but do you know what can buy a lot of that stuff? A million dollars.
Even though this puppy has been found, it makes me want to go buy a pack of cards. Talk about a hit of pure unleaded dopamine.
Now and then I’ll be walking around Target, and I’ll pick myself up a pack of IndyCar cards (they exist, and they’re awesome) just to feel alive.
