Joy Behar shocked her fellow “The View” co-hosts and the audience when she kissed actor Anson Mount during Wednesday’s show.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg introduced Mount and the actor started walking towards “The View” table and greeted the hosts. When he greeted Behar, the co-host ended up kissing him on the lips.
Co-host Sunny Hostin pointed at the pair and the other co-hosts laughed.

After Mount sat down, Behar said, “You know something? I’m old, but I’m not dead.”
“That’s good, Joy, because I am,” Mount said.
Behar said the last time Mount visited with “The View,” he brought her flowers for her birthday and that it had never been the same between them.

“Well, I got married,” he said.
Behar addressed the kiss during the “Behind the Table” podcast on Wednesday, telling “The View” producer Brian Teta, “Well, all morning I’ve been hearing about Anson Mount, and I’ve been making the jokes about his name.”
“And then when he came out I just felt like kissing him,” Behar said.
Teta asked Behar if she had heard from her husband, Steve Janowitz. The co-host said he texted her during the show and said, “Cut that out.”
Mount spoke to the co-hosts about his “Star Trek” series, “Strange New Worlds.”

“It was my make-believe game when I was a child, there’s not a day that’s gone by I haven’t looked around and said to myself, ‘I’m from White Bluff, Tennessee. How did I get to be in the captain’s chair?’” he said during the interview.
During the show on Wednesday, the co-hosts also discussed hearings regarding the Smithsonian Institution on Capitol Hill.
Hostin argued during the discussion that Republicans were targeting the Smithsonian because the Trump administration didn’t want to pay reparations to Black Americans.
“Reparations,” Hostin said. “I think this reflects a broad effort by the Trump administration to reshape the way the nation’s history is told, so this country does not have to pay Black people for the forced labor and the unpaid labor that built this country. I really think that this is what this is about.”

“Let’s face it, when you have truth and reconciliation commissions, and you’ve had them when it comes to interned Japanese Americans. You’ve had them when it comes to the Holocaust. You’ve had them when it comes to Native Americans,” she continued. “It has not happened — truth and reconciliation commissions — when it comes to slavery. And that is because they’re trying to bury the truth part. You cannot have true reconciliation, and then you cannot have true financial repair unless you have the truth. And they’re trying to erase that truth.”
Hostin concluded, “It’s about this country trying to avoid paying African Americans our due.”
