The Boston Red Sox had their 15-game winning streak snapped earlier this week, and no one may be happier about it than a Boston-area restaurant.
Sure, the folks who work there are probably big Red Sox fans, but this winning streak had them losing their asses thanks to a promotion they were running.
The chain, 99 Restaurants, originated in Boston and has locations throughout New England and into New York.

According to Front Office Sports, the restaurant has been running a really simple promotion with the Red Sox since 2008: when the Red Sox win, kids eat free.
I think you can already see how this may have become a problem.
The Red Sox did not lose from July 2 until July 22, which means that for almost three weeks, kids were throwing down free grub.

Now, I’ve seen a million promotions like this. Especially if you go to a minor league game, you’ll see this for just about anything that can happen in a game.
Infield fly? Well, that just earned everyone in attendance a free small Blizzard treat from your local Dairy Queen (terms and conditions apply)!
But most of the time, I end up wondering how many people are going in with ticket stubs or even remembering that this promotion is even happening. Trust me, I love the idea of six free wings from some bar as much as the next red-blooded American, but there’s a good chance I’ll forget about it.
However, people didn’t forget that youngsters were getting free food at 99 Restaurants. In fact, the restaurant said they gave away “thousands” of free meals, which reportedly go for about $8.

That’s a lot of chicken tenders…
Well, the chain got a nice two-day respite after the Red Sox’s 5-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, but the team will look to get back to their free kids’ meal-giving ways in a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
