Disney is reportedly laying off a few hundred employees across multiple departments at the entertainment giant.
Citing a source familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that Disney is laying off a few hundred employees in the company’s human resources and technology departments, marking the latest round of cuts after earlier workforce reductions earlier in the year.
Variety first reported the news.
The moves come amid a leadership transition at Disney, which had Josh D’Amaro take charge as CEO in March as the company faces a transformational period amid the rise of AI, shrinking box office revenue and intense competition from streaming rivals.

In April, Disney eliminated about 1,000 positions across the company’s marketing group, which had been reorganized with some job cuts in January, as well as in other parts of the company including its studio and TV divisions, ESPN, products and technology and certain corporate functions.
Disney reportedly laid off several hundred employees in July, including at Pixar, ESPN, Disney Studios and Disney Entertainment Television.
The company also offered voluntary early retirement packages to longtime executives in August amid a restructuring push.

The targeted early retirement offerings were limited to longtime employees in roles ranging from director to executive vice president in Disney Entertainment, ESPN and the corporate divisions. Eligible workers had to have worked at Disney for at least 10 years and were at least the age of 50.
The company’s offer was time-limited and included separation pay, continued vesting of equity awards, healthcare support at active employee rates and continued Silver Pass access.

Disney employed about 231,000 people at the end of fiscal year 2025, of which around 172,000 were employed in the U.S. and 59,000 worked outside the country.
