Say His Name: Neocon Don

America’s enemies keep dropping like flies. Joe Kent, a close friend of anti-American agitator Tucker Carlson, resigned as head of the National Counterterrorism Center on Tuesday in protest of the ongoing military operation against Iran. In an explosive letter to Donald Trump, Kent accused the president of being a dimwitted patsy duped into betraying his country. Duped by whom? By the Jews, obviously.

“High-ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign … to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States,” Kent wrote. He went on to blame Israel for having “manufactured” the Iraq war and the war against ISIS.

Trump was more than happy to show Kent the exit. “When somebody is working with us that says they didn’t think Iran was a threat, we don’t want those people,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office. “There are some people, I guess, that would say that, but they’re not smart people or they’re not savvy people. Iran was a tremendous threat.”

This is Trump at his finest. Once a neocon, always a neocon. Dick Cheney—may he rest in war—must be smiling down from the heavens. If he wasn’t fully confident that Neocon Don could wear the big boy pants and crush our enemies with overwhelming force, he never would have left us when he did.

It’s amazing to think that Neocon Don was a Free Beacon Man of the Year in 2025 for everything he accomplished last year—finishing the war in Gaza, bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities, ending Marjorie Taylor Greene’s career. That’s all child’s play compared to Trump’s output in the first two-and-a-half months of 2026.

“By the time you read this, America might be at war with Venezuela,” the Free Beacon wrote in December. Turns out Trump didn’t even need a war to take out Nicolás Maduro. The drug-dealing dictator is languishing in a Manhattan jail after being captured in one of the most impressive military operations in history.

Having showcased what American forces can achieve under competent leadership, Neocon Don set out to neutralize the Iranian threat once and for all. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and many of the regime’s senior leaders were taken out on day one, prompting howls of anguish from Democrats, journalists, and other terrorist sympathizers.

Trump has not wavered in the face of angsty criticism from alleged MAGA allies who, like Kent, accused the president of lacking the intellectual fortitude to resist Israeli manipulation. Trump recently lavished praise on Mark Levin, the neocon podcaster and longtime Free Beacon reader. The president went on to say that Levin’s critics, including Carlson and Megyn Kelly, were not part of the MAGA movement, which is largely supportive of attacking the “Sick, Demented, and Violent Terrorist Regime” in Iran.

“Mark Levin, a truly Great American Patriot, is somewhat under siege by other people with far less Intellect, Capability, and Love for our Country,” Trump wrote over the weekend. “When you hear others unfairly attack Mark, remember that they are jealous and angry Human Beings, whose ‘sway’ is much less than the Public understands, and will, now that they know where I stand, rapidly diminish.”

As is often the case, Trump was right. More than 90 percent of self-described “MAGA or Trump Conservatives” approve of the U.S.-led military action, according to a recent poll. Overall, 84 percent of Trump voters surveyed said they approved of the Iran campaign. In thinking of how Neocon Don might respond to the accusation that he has lost touch with his voters, we are reminded of Dick Cheney’s immortal advice for Sen. Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.), which need not be repeated here.

Trump has also lashed out at his foreign counterparts for behaving like cowards. This week he blasted British prime minister Keir Starmer for his tepid support and reluctance to offer military support for the campaign against Iran. “You see that man right there? You know who that is? Churchill. The late, great Winston Churchill,” Trump said in the Oval Office on Tuesday, pointing toward a bust of the celebrated wartime leader. “And you know, unfortunately, Keir is not Winston Churchill.”

Like Churchill before him, Neocon Don is undeterred by the weakness of his so-called allies and compatriots. He will do what needs to be done—because it’s right.
